Cameroon Western Highlands Expedition

Text Box: A unique eco-cultural insight into Cameroon, from Douala through the coastal cities and picturesque highlands of the Western Plateau to the fantastic Bamenda Ring Road. This tour includes plantations, national parks, rainforests, palaces of Fons/Sultans and local arts/crafts and culinary experiences.

Text Box: 12th day: Bamenda to Lake Awing and environs
What to see: Captivating scenic beauty of  lake Awing, trekking to lower part of mount Lefo interaction with Fulani families including horse-riding, swimming in lake Awing, swimming in lake Awing, visit traditional Doctor at Santa.
13th day: Departure from Bamenda to Ndop 
What to see: Mountain forest and Sabga scenery by trekking; visit Presbyterian Pottery Centre  and craft producers in their homes.
14th day: Ndop- Bambalang and back to Ndop-Babungo-Ndawara
What to see: Rice growing and processing visit of fishing villages along the Bambalang dam, sail in local boats; visit the palace of Babungo Fon which is famous for craft and museum, visit the tea plantation and processing, watch home fantasia and animal ranch.
15th day: Departure from Ndawara to Nkambe
What to see: Watch Ndop plain from Wainama, watch birds, in sects, and bats in Vekovi mountain forest, visit milk production centre at Tadu, visit the Oku Fon’s palace and craft centres, honey and coffee production centres, watch giant bats at Mbabu and drive through the beautiful Tabenken landscape to Nkambe.
16th day: Departure from Nkambe to Wum 
What to see:Very beautiful scenery characterized by extensive rocky hills and vallies, Dumbu Ranch, hanging bridge mystical forest at Fonfuka, disappearance underground of the waters of Kimbi River over a distance of one kilometre, Lake Nyos (which exploded in 1986 and 1700 people died), mystical rock and well and visit the camp overnight in a farm at Wum.
17th day: Departed from Wum to Bamenda.
What to see: Lake Wum, Menchum fall, rice farms, and other rural life style aspected along teh Bafut valley.
18th day: Bamenda to Laikom and back to Bamenda before going to Foumban.
What to see: Beautiful landscape between Bamenda and Laikom, legendary palace of the Fon of Laikom, with the mystical statue called Afo-akom.
19th day: Foumban to Nkongsamba
What to see: At Foumban visit the palace of the sultan of Foumban, and its rich museum  and the craft market with its many galeries. At Bafoussam visit the palace. At Nkongsamba visit coffee farms and transformation units.
20th day: Nkongsamba to Douala 
What to see:Visit Pineapple and banana plantations at Njombe, Penja, and Loum.
Departure from Douala at night.
N.B. There are other site attraction that we may meet during the touristic months of December to march and January such as village festivals characterized by colourful traditional dances, rituals, canoe racing, horse riding (fantasia) etc.





Text Box: 1st day:	Arrival at Douala  and night there
2nd day:Douala to Kribi
What to see: Ruber  and oil palm station, Lake Ossa, Hydroplectric power station, Pygmies at Lolodorf and night at sea side hotel.
3rd day: Kribi to Lobe and back to Kribi. 
What to see: Lobe waterfall, which is a meeting point 	 between the sea (ocean) and River Lobe. Visit to the Palace  of Eko Roosevelt (famous musician in Cameroon and also a traditional ruler and architectural engineer).
4th day:	Departure from Kribi to Campo
What to see: Combination of marine and terrestrial national park rich in aquatic and terrestrial wildlife (sea turtles, forest elephant, primates, buffaloes, Gongos and sitatungas, birds such as parrots and pelicans.
5th day:	Discovery of the marine parts of the park by local canoe and return to Kribi for the  night.
6th day: Departure from Kribi to Limbe.
What to see: Banana plantation, processing outfits; Botanic Ganden (the oldest in the Central African Region, having a great diversity of plants and animals and colonial graves); fishing villages along the extensive line of the West Coast from Limbe to Idenau; lava deposit of the most recent mount Cameroon eruption at Bakingili on the way to Idenau; visit the wttest place in Africa (Debunscha) and second wettest in the world.
7th day: Limbe to Buea by road and back 
What to see: Remnants of German, Colonial rule (Prime Ministers Lodge, hospital, farm, post office, police head office walk along the same New Beach and  swim in natural pool.
8th day:	Departure from Limbe to Mundemba through Kumba 
What to see: Cocoa plantations; Karup National Park, home to Africa’s oldest and  most biologically diverse rainforest, having a wide variety of primates, birds and plants, including the famous Arcistrocladius Korupensis (containing curative ingredients against HIV/AIDS) and others containing chemical substances new to modern science. Experience long forest walks, and camp in the park.
9th day:	Departure from Korup to Kumba and night.
10th day: Departure from Kumba to Bangan via Melong and back to Melong to Bamenda.
What to see: Extensive shade grown coffee farms, beautiful Maneagouba twin Lakes; and meandering through the Mbo Plain of Menoua, to get to the rolling hills of the Western Plateau on the way to Bamenda.
11th Day: Bamenda
What to see: Visit the Museum at Fon’s Palace of Mankon, visist to the Fon’s Palace of Bafut, visit Niba Albert Foundation at Bafut and Savana Botanic Garden, and cultural evening.
